- AF> I was wondering if anyone out there in Modem world knows of a
- AF> archive/ftp/www site which stores modem initialisation strings for
- AF> initialising different brands of modems to run at different speeds?
-
- Dunno about ftp or www site, and most modems are "autobauding" nowadays
- but you might like:

- AF> like to use. And for example if the user chooses a Motorola Lifestyle
- AF> 288/16550 UART/28800bps/v42/v42bis, the software then picks the
- AF> relevant modem initialisation string from its file...eg, the Motorola
- AF> Lifestyle would be initialised with ATB30\n3%c3.
-
- Most software terminals pick up from the manufacturers' default factory
- setup and may modify to suit the software writers' tastes. That was the
- idea behind the at&f. But that's since been superceeded by manufacturers
- themselves providing a best default for the PC - at&f (which is actually
- at&f&c1&d2)
-
- AF> Please advise if an archive of such modem initialisation strings are
- AF> available. Thanks.
-
- Point being that these default strings will not work with all softwares
- out there, nor for all platforms
